Museo della Città di Livorno Contemporary Art Section Guide

Finally a guide to the permanent contemporary art collection of the Museo della Città di Livorno, located in the baroque interior of the deconsecrated church of the Piazza del Luogo Pio.

Among the works of art, acquired through the most significant editions of the Modigliani Prize and previously exhibited in the former Museo Progressivo of Villa Maria in Livorno, there is The Great Reptile by Pino Pascali and, among others, important works by Manzoni, Castellani, Uncini, Vedova and Baruchello.

Contemporary art can be particularly inaccessible. For this, mediation is even more important and necessary, in order to offer ideas and contents for understanding and deepening.

This guide is therefore a contribution to bring an ever-increasing number of visitors closer to the museum and its exhibition offerings, so that they can be able to appreciate its value and peculiarities.
