Pietro Annigoni Museum
Inaugurated in November 2008 in the extraordinary setting of Villa Bardini, the Pietro Annigoni Museum holds an excellent selection of works by the master from his family’s collection and it substantially enriches the town’s figurative heritage from the twentieth century. There is a considerable selection of paintings and drawings chosen from among the acquisitions made by the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze. It recounts the less well-known, but freer and more characteristic side of a great Florentine man by adoption who was among the protagonists of last century’s culture. He had an independent and unconventional personality, blessed with formidable artistic skill and an encyclopaedic cultural awareness. He excited admiration and interest and can still be found at the centre of debates on art today.
