For the 50th anniversary from the Florence flood, this volume celebrates the restored objects found after the fury had rose against them. Piled, clumped, soaked and smeared with mud and naphta, saved by the "Mud Angels" and finally bought back to their original splendor through the dedicated work of Italian and foreign restorers.
Thanks to their outstanding work it is now possible to see the "saved beauty" of the paintings, of the sacred and scientific objects and the valuable volumes of the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, up to the private and public archive currently stored in the State Archive.
