Notation by Finnish artist Tiina Osara is the exhibition that the Accademia Chigiana di Siena is dedicating to the relationship between sound and the visual arts as part of the Chigiana International Festival & Summer Academy 2023.
"Parola" ('Word') is the theme that gives this year's edition its title.
Tiina Osara's research into asemic writing lies at the heart of these paths, between sound and sign, between word and calligraphy.
It is a notation of time that refers to sonority beyond meaning and beyond rhythmic scansion.
Tiina Osara is a Finnish visual artist and action painter, known for her large-scale abstract paintings and installations using photographs and video.
The catalogue brings together 18 works exhibited throughout the summer in the rooms of the Accademia Chigiana.
Tiina Osara has lived and worked in France since 2013.
