Angelica Palli

This volume pays tribute to Angelica Palli, writer, patriot and central figure of the Italian and Greek Risorgimento, who is still little known even in Livorno, her hometown. 

The valuable articles explore the ‘thousand faces’ of an intellectual who had intense cultural exchanges with Francesco Domenico Guerrazzi and was appreciated by Alessandro Manzoni, one of the rare women admitted to the meetings of the intellectual circle of the Gabinetto Vieusseux, offering a reflection also on 19th-century Livorno, an open and multicultural city.

The publication is the first volume in the series Le Gemme of the Liceo Niccolini Palli in Livorno, conceived with the intention of highlighting personalities who have marked the city's history in order to convey, especially to the new generations, the importance of cultural and historical memory.
