The book comes at a particularly important time for Palazzo Davanzati. It is celebrating the centenary of the 1916 New York auction of the furnishings of Elia Volpi’s private museum, which gave rise to the popularity of the “Davanzati style” overseas and the consolidation of the museum’s international reputation, as well as the sixtieth anniversary of the reopenin of Palazzo Davanzati as a public museum in 1956.
A topographical guide provides in depth information and technical analyses and details the chronological context and provenance of the works on display.
