LAPISLAZZULI
The first volume entirely dedicated to this special stone, its origin and uses in the manufacturing of ornaments and cult objects. Its color is determined by the lazurite gemstone, used in the production of cult objects for centuries.
The exhibition itinerary starts with some archeological findings from the Indo Vallery (Mehrgarth, 7.000 B.C.), in Mesopotamia (Sumer, 6.000 B.C., Ur, 2.500 B.C:) and Egypt (1.500 B.C. circa).
A stone beloved by the Medici, whose court started the most spectacular collection in Europe.
