This publication gives the reader an extraordinary cross-section of the artistic, human and professional relationships of a composer who tackled a multiplicity of genres ranging from instrumental music to production for the cello, from the composition of romances for song and piano to music for band and sacred music, from the composition of operettas to opera theatre.
The volume collects the proceedings of the International Study Conference "Crescenzo Buongiorno. Violoncellista e compositore"which was held between the town of Avellino and the village of Bonito from 15 to 17 September 2022. The essays are divided into four sections, respectively dedicated to education, opera in the Italian language, theatre production between Italy and Europe and reception, with a final section devoted to heritage. Connected to these section s the work of compiling the catalogue of the Pagella-Buongiorno Fund, which was kept, even in the aftermath of the composer's death, at his home in Bonito.
