The Uffizi Galleries are now enriched by an important purchase: the painting, never completed, of Federico and Maria Anna, the children of Pietro Leopoldo of Lorraine, portrayed by the German artist Anton Raphael Mengs during his Florentine stay at the Lorraine court.
The event becomes the opportunity to set up an exhibition dedicated to the comparison of portraits by Mengs belonging to the most famous collections in European museums, including the Prado in Madrid, the Kunst in Vienna and the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan.
The volume is edited by Matteo Ceriana and the international scholar, Steffi Roettgen.
