"Did women have a Renaissance?" asked Joan Kelly Gadol in his article published in 1977 and forty years later we can say that much has been accomplished. After Artemisia Gentileschi and Luisa Ignacia Roldan, Plautilla Nelli has become the focus of increasing attention in the past twenty years.
It is time that an exhibition be dedicated to Plautilla. And this show is the first of a series that the Uffizi plans on holding each year focusing on female artists and possibile artists who are little known to the public at large.
