A JOURNEY THROUGH THE FORM OF TIME

The exhibition is a tribute to the Medici collections of clocks that constitute one of the largest existing collections of this kind. It is also a tribute to their container, Palazzo Pitti, which in its sumptuous decorations frequently traces the theme of time scanning. The choice of the specimens offers the opportunity to appreciate the different forms of realization and the extraordinary quality, both from the technical-scientific point of view and from that purely artistic. The visitors can see singular instruments composed of two souls: the mechanism, often sophisticated and complex, and the case that, born to protect the delicate content, has been transformed into a real art object, with a value of its own.
