Julio Le Parc
In the spectacular location of the Palazzo delle Papesse, which reopens to the public, a new cultural season opens for the city by hosting one of the world's best-known contemporary artists: the Argentinean Julio Le Parc is in fact the artist who has dared to challenge artistic tradition since the 1970s with his illusionistic works.
An exhibition of around 80 works, including black and white shapes, prismatic nets, fluid paths, luminescent cylinders, suspended bodies and unstable geometries, recounts Le Parc's continuous artistic research, offering an immersive experience thanks to the skilful use of light and movement based on his 14 colours.
The exhibition, curated by the artist's son Yamil Le Parc and by Marcella Beccaria – one of the best-known experts on Le Parc's art – highlights some of the Argentinean artist's best-known Series such as Surfaces, Modulations, Alchemies and Torsions, and among the works on show is the 2016 Sphère verte to welcome the visitor.
