Echi d'Oriente e rarità negli arredi di Villa La Quiete

This volume illustrates the work of recovery, study and valorisation of the heritage of Villa La Quiete in Florence and its rearrangement for exhibitions. Some unusual furnishings are presented here, which after recent restoration and new research best reveal their true character and history: a scagliola top with an extraordinary decoration from the Gondi inheritance and two unusual pieces of furniture from the low choir, two cabinets featuring an 'all'indiana' decoration with sgraffito gold leaf on a dark background. In addition, there are the large folders with moral and religious texts dedicated to the education of young girls, prepared at the behest of Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici Electrice Palatina herself. Villa La Quiete reveals itself as a place beloved by the Medici princesses, the home of a unique female congregation dedicated to the education of generations of young girls. The visit itinerary for the public has been gradually implemented, with the renovation of rooms and the restoration of furnishings and works of art, as part of a display project in respect of its nature of historical residence.
