La Istoria di San Giovanni Nepomuceno
The Ponte di San Giovanni Nepomuceno in Livorno, on which stands the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, has a crucial urban and historical importance, as it represents a link between the city and its maritime roots, with a symbolic connection to the sea and its fortresses.
The figure of St. John of Nepomuk, martyred by drowning in 1393 in Prague to defend women's rights, becomes the icon of protection of the waters and defence against its pitfalls, reflecting the life of Livorno, a city open to the sea.
This martyrdom is revived in the Istoria di San Giovanni Nepomuceno (History of St John of Nepomuk) and links the voice of rivers and peoples overlooking the Vltava and the Danube to the voice of the Arno and the Medicean fortresses of Livorno, overlooking the sea.
Separate parts for Bassotuba, Clarinet in sib, Euphonium, Flic Ten T. C., Bass drum and cymbals, Snare drum, Baritone Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Trumpet in sib, Trombone and Tenor are attached to the volume containing texts and score.
