A homage to Ferdinando I de’ Medici and his wife Cristina di Lorena, who gathered what will become one of the largest and richest reliquary collection in Europe.
This exhibition reunites the few Medici specimen left for us to admire.
Excellent artworks produced by the most experienced goldsmith workshops, specifically for the Florentine court, amongst which Odoardo Vallet and Jonas Falck stand out.
The exhibition catalogue describes the complex figures of Cristina di Lorena and Maria Maddalena of Austria, driven by a unique religious instinct, who promoted a series of donations to the most relevant marian shrines of Florence and its grand duchy.
