Rivista "Codice 602"
Seven celebrated scholars have contributed to this homage:
Guido Salvetti suggests a new reading of the Journal de mes mélodies by Francis Poulenc (1899-1963); Marco Moiraghi investigates the relationship between the music of Paul Hindemith (1895-1963) and the topic of war; Alessandro Solbiati examines the Terzo Quartetto per archi - Third String Quartet by Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) as if it was a sudden revival of chamber music with interesting timbres and instruments; Fulvio Venturi illustrates the creative path which led to Parisina, fascinating opera with a libretto of Gabriele D’Annunzio (1863-1938) and music by Pietro Mascagni (1863-1945); includes a stimulating essay by Gabriella Biagi Ravenni (for the section Music Studies in Lucca) with its investigation on the early staging of operas by Verdi at the Teatro del Giglio, and a text by Donato Sansone about folk instruments such as bagpipes, used by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) in his melodramatic orchestrations.
The periodical features a tribute to the german composer Richard Wagner (1813-1883) by Marco Brighenti, who studies the influence of Shopenhauer in Wagner's aesthetic.
The Thesis section is dedicated to a study by Giovanni Giannini, who reveals that even the brilliant Chopin was using some previous stylistic models such as the Kalkbrenner in his first Concerto for piano and orchestra.
Finally, a tribute to Michele Puccini (1813-1864), Giacomo's father, to celebrate his second centenary of his death.
