Angiolo Tommasi's notes in a precious anastatic reproduction

The scholar Alessandra Rey Tommasi, great-granddaughter of Angiolo and Lodovico and granddaughter of Ghigo, has found in the Ghigo Tommasi Archives, which she is in charge of, two small pocket notebooks and some loose sheets that are reproduced here in a precious and exclusive anastatic edition limited to one hundred copies 

This previously unpublished aspect of Angiolo Tommasi's work, which testifies to his always attentive eye for study from life, emerges clearly from the sketches preserved in the archives.

It consists of pencil sketches that in a few thin lines trace the attitude of a person or a group captured live in everyday life at Torre del Lago. 

In some of these we recognise the first hints of what later became well-known works such as Pensieri (Thoughts) - an interior with a female figure sitting on a chair with her head resting on the back -, while in others we can catch the gaze of Angiolo Tommasi observing his friend Giacomo Puccini walking from behind.
